Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy are effective treatments for recurrent tonsillitis, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea/OSA and tonsil stones (tonsilloliths) in children. Coblation intracapsular tonsillectomy is also available, which reduces pain and bleeding risks.
Tongue tie can cause difficulty with breast or bottle feeding, which may sometimes lead to weight loss. They very rarely cause speech problems. It can be treated by a simple snip on the NHS in the ENT Department at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. Babies should be referred at around 1 month old.
